About the ADAT Exam

What is ADAT?

The ADAT is an advanced-level, computer-based exam developed by the American Dental Association (ADA). It measures your problem-solving skills, knowledge of biomedical and clinical sciences, and ability to interpret data.

Who Needs to Take It?

Dental Graduates

Dental graduates from US dental schools seeking admission to residency and specialty programs in North America.

Internationally Trained Dentists – USA

Internationally trained dentists in the USA who want to strengthen their applications for postgraduate programs.

Internationally Trained Dentists – Canada

Internationally trained dentists in Canada who are applying for IDAPP (International Dentist Advanced Placement Program) to gain a DDS degree from Canadian Dental schools.

ADAT for IDAPP Applicants in Canada

ADAT for IDAPP Applicants in Canada

If you're an internationally trained dentist based in Canada, the ADAT is the exam behind the International Dentist Advanced Placement Program (IDAPP) — the pathway that lets you complete a DDS at a Canadian dental school without repeating a full four-year program. Canadian dental schools use your ADAT score alongside your credential evaluation to shortlist IDAPP applicants, so a strong, well-prepared score matters here just as much as it does for a U.S. residency application.

DentaBest's ADAT exam preparation is built for exactly this: structured coverage of Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Data/Research Interpretation, ADAT online mock exams that mirror the real interface, and ADAT study materials updated to the current ADA blueprint — the same program our U.S.-bound students use, with IDAPP-specific guidance added for Canada.
